Prayer Material

South Africa is in a dark hour with many people struggling and suffering. If we choose to deny fear and put our faith in God, we will rise above the storm.

“...Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.” Isaiah 43:1-2 (ESV)

Pray The Word

God’s Word is above and beyond South Africa’s circumstances. That’s why praying the Word is so powerful. Pray the following verses to help us be Kingdom-minded.

  1. Lord, we draw near to You. We love You because You first loved us. (James 4:8; 1 John 4:19)

  2. Our minds are renewed. We don’t follow, imitate, or conform to the world but have a Kingdom mindset. (Romans 12:2)

  3. We set our minds on things of God and not the things of man; on Heaven above where God is and not on the world. (Colossians 3:2; Matthew 16:23)

  4. We do not love the things of this world. (1 John 2:15)

  5. We are born from above. We walk in the Spirit and don’t fulfil the lust of the flesh. (John 3:3,5; Galatians 5:16)

  6. We are in perfect peace when our minds are focused on You. We have life and peace when we are spiritually-minded. (Isaiah 26:3; Romans 8:6-8)

  7. We do not fear, because You have redeemed us. You have called us by name and we belong to You. Though we go through the waters, the rivers, or the fire, You are with us. (Isaiah 43:1-2)

  8. We are no longer the centre of our lives, but we identify totally with Jesus. We have been crucified with Christ. The life we live is no longer ours, but it is Christ who lives in us. (Galatians 2:20)

  9. Jesus, our eyes are fixed on You who endured the Cross and sits at the right hand of the throne of God. (Hebrews 12:2)

  10. You came from Heaven. You are far above all others. (John 3:31)

  11. Jesus, You are the Bread from Heaven. We do not labour for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life. (John 6:27)

  12. Thank You, Lord, for Your provision as we seek Your Kingdom and righteousness first. (Matthew 6:33)

  13. You have delivered us and drawn us to You so that we are no longer under the dominion of darkness. You have transferred us to the Kingdom of Your Son. (Colossians 1:13)

  14. Our citizenship is in Heaven; we are Your ambassadors on earth. (Philippians 3:20; 2 Corinthians 5:20)

  15. We are seated with You in heavenly places. (Ephesians 2:6)

  16. We are the head and not the tail. We are above and not beneath. (Deuteronomy 28:13)

  17. We are blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ; we were chosen before the foundation of the world. (Ephesians 1:3-4)

  18. Eye has not seen and ear has not heard; and it has not even entered into the heart of man, the things you have prepared for those who love You. (1 Corinthians 2:9)

  19. Father, as the heavens are higher than the earth, so Your ways are higher than our ways, and Your thoughts higher than our thoughts. South Africa is Kingdom-minded and not earthly bound. (Isaiah 55:8-9)

  20. We acknowledge that South Africa cannot rely on its might or power, only on Your Spirit. (Zechariah 4:6)

  21. Lord, You are the Creator of the heavens and the earth. You are everlasting. You don’t faint or become weary. We rely on Your power to save us. (Isaiah 40:28)

  22. Lord, give the leaders of South Africa the understanding and wisdom to seek Your face for guidance. (Psalm 147:5)

Week 1

Week 1

1. Born From Above

The Father desires for us to be with Him in His Kingdom—above. He sent His only Son to reconcile us to Himself. Jesus opened up the way, through the Cross, for us to communicate with the Father.

Jesus said we will only enter God’s Kingdom if we are born from above (John 3:3,5). When we are born from above, we don’t walk in the ways of the world anymore, we walk in God’s ways (Galatians 5:16). Imagine how powerful it would be if South Africa walked in obedience to the Word of God?

"...you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them." Deuteronomy 28:13 (NKJV)

2. Walking Beyond

  • Are you born from above? 1. Do you communicate with the Father every day? 2. Have you stopped walking in the ways of the world? 3. Do you obey God’s Word?

  • How can you make the Good News—that Jesus opened the way to the Father through the Cross—known to South Africa?

PRAY: Lord, give us a desire to spend time with You daily, in Your Word, and prayer. Help South Africa to walk in Your ways. Amen.

3. Come Up Higher

Walking above is a mindset. The Bible says our minds have to be renewed. When we converse with the Father, we cannot pray with a worldly mindset. The more we talk about Jesus and testify about His goodness, the more our minds are renewed. Then, when we talk to Him in our prayer closet, our minds and hearts are ready to receive from Him.

God’s character is to answer prayer. He wants us to speak to Him so He can communicate with us. God wants South Africa to have a Kingdom mindset so He can answer our prayers.

"And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." Romans 12:2 (NKJV)

4. Pray For South Africa

Set time aside and pray for South Africa to be Kingdom-minded.

Week 2

Week 2

1. Above The Storm

In John 6, the disciples were in a boat when a storm came up. Jesus approached them walking on the water. Then He said, “It is I; do not be afraid.” When we are born from above, we have the Spirit of God, and His power lives within us. And then, we do not fear the storms anymore because we know we belong to God and that He protects us.

2. Beyond Faith

  • When the storms of life come, do you react in fear, or do you put your faith in God?

  • How can South Africa rise above the current conditions?

PRAY: Lord, help South Africa to have a Kingdom mindset so that we yield to Your Word and Your ways. Amen.

3. Come Up Higher

God invites us to come up higher—in the Spirit—so that He can talk to us. He wants us to leave our worldly mindset behind (the world’s ways and counsel). When we make that choice, Jesus meets us halfway and takes us above, to where He is.

When we pray for South Africa, we need to pray from above, in the Spirit. That is when we will have power over the storms.

"So when they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and drawing near the boat; and they were afraid. But He said to them, 'It is I; do not be afraid.'" John 6:19-20 (NKJV)

4. Pray For South Africa

Set time aside and pray for South Africa to be Kingdom-minded.

Week 3

Week 3

1. Bread From Above

The crowd, who Jesus had miraculously fed with 5 loaves and 2 fish, followed Him across the sea. Jesus told them that they weren’t looking for Him for the miracles; they were looking for Him because they had eaten the bread and were filled. (John 6:26) The crowd wasn’t interested in the Bread from above. They followed Jesus because they wanted Him to provide them with the things of the world.

We shouldn’t seek God because we want Him to solve South Africa’s problems, or because we want our materialistic desires to be satisfied. We should follow Jesus because of who He is—the Bread from Heaven.

"Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God." 1 Corinthians 2:12 (KJV)

2. Beyond Material Things

  • What do your prayers sound like? Is it all about asking God for material things, your worldly desires? Or are you seeking Him—the Way, the Truth, and the Life?

  • Why are we praying for South Africa? Is it to restore our comfort? Or, do we want to leave the world’s ways behind and restore our connection with God?

PRAY: Lord, help South Africa to seek You, the Bread of Life, and to walk in the truth of Your Word. Amen.

3. Come Up Higher

We have to feed on Jesus, not the world. People tend to feed on movies, their career, family, and friends, but they neglect Jesus. Feed on Him by spending time in His Word and prayer every day. Prayer and reading the Word work together; we can’t have one without the other.

The Word of God gives eternal life—the above life. The Word is simple but powerful. Jesus said the flesh profits nothing, but His words are Spirit and Life.

"As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me." John 6:57 (NKJV)

4. Pray For South Africa

Set time aside and pray for South Africa to be Kingdom-minded.

Week 4

Week 4

1. Two Kingdoms

There are only two kingdoms: the Kingdom of God and the kingdom of this world (Satan’s kingdom). There is no middle kingdom. We either listen to God’s Word or the enemy’s words. If we don’t yield to the Word and obey it, we automatically side with the enemy.

If South Africa chooses to believe and trust in God’s Word, God will lift our nation above the enemy’s dominion.

"[The Father] has delivered and drawn us to Himself out of the control and the dominion of darkness and has transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of His love." Colossians 1:13 (AMPC)

2. Above and Beyond

  • We cannot live between two kingdoms. Make a choice today to live above and beyond. Make it official by writing it down on a piece of paper with the date and keep it in your Bible.

  • What will happen if South Africa becomes Kingdom-minded?

PRAY: Lord, help the leaders of South Africa to choose Your ways, to have Kingdom strategy during this time. Amen.

3. Come Up Higher

Judas walked with Jesus, but his mindset didn’t change. He loved the things of the world more than he loved Jesus. Ultimately, he chose the world and betrayed Jesus. A lot of people claim that they serve the Lord and follow Him, but they betray Him because they don’t believe His Word.

They don’t realise the Word of God is so powerful that it defeated everything (sin, sickness, and curses) on the Cross. The Word is above every difficult situation that looks impossible to us. Let’s choose to love Jesus more than the things of the world (1 John 2:5); let’s pray that we will have a Kingdom mindset.

"...Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him." 1 Corinthians 2:9 (NKJV)

4. Pray For South Africa

Set time aside and pray for South Africa to be Kingdom-minded.
